OUR STORY

An old farm with an old twist

This Mississippi hill has been the home of livestock for over four generations. Stephanie and Troy Young took responsibility for the family farm in the spring of 2016. They were committed to make the transition from industrialized practices to regenerative practices. Building fences and laying water lines ensued. After many workshops, new friendships and much reading, they began anew, returning to the natural order: animals rotated frequently to improve animal and soil health that eat only grasses and non-grain feed, resulting in a happier, healthier animal for you.

Sadly, Troy died in the winter of 2020, but Stephanie, with the help of many hands, decided to carry on with the farm. Today the farm offers grass fed beef and lamb. We are always looking for new ways to expand our practices in giving back to the land.

Hillhouse Pastures is fully committed to making our small corner of the planet a sustainable, beautiful one through regenerative farming practices.

We are a simple farm committed to simple practices proven to improve the health of the animal, restore biodiversity, and reduce environmental impact. Our animals are raised on our farm or, in some cases, purchased from a partner farm who shares our farming vision. We are committed to humane practices and seek our animals' best welfare. We use no unnecessary antibiotics, only treating animals in need of care. Our animals feed on grass and natural minerals, not grains, and have access to clean water.

We currently sell sides of beef butchered to your specifications, 1/8 shares, and smaller portions of ground beef, as well as choice cuts of lamb. We look forward to the day when we will offer an array of individual meat options for your table

Regenerative Farming:
A Bright Future

Regenerative farming reaches beyond healthy cows for today's consumption. It uses practices that build a better tomorrow. Through intentional grazing programs and wise resource management, soil health is restored and carbon outputs are significantly reduced. Grass Fed animals are also a healthier option due to the balance between Omega 3 and 6 fats.
